Technical competence in surface treatment technolgoies - for more than 40 years
Chemophos arose in 1968 out of senator DI Hellmut Swietelsky's idea of distibuting
anti-corrosion varnishes and derusting agents for steel storage cylinders and
for the restoration of steel bridges. We quickly grew to develop our own technology
in the field of metal pretreatment and paint stripping. The then new way of
facade design by galvanised and coated sheets was first applied at UNO-City
in Vienna. We at Traun, at that time still operating under the name of Chemophos
Metallschutzmittel GesmbH, provided the pretreatment chemicals.
As the contract coating industry became more and more important, we developed
processes with which steel, aluminium and galvanized steel could be pretreated
in an economic but nevertheless material-specific way.
In order to meet growing environmental requirements, we have been working since
1998 in cooperation with the US company Bulk Chemicals Inc., distributing their
chromium-free products. This led to an intensive cooperation with NABU-Oberflächentechnik
GmbH, which introduced Bulk's chromium-free pretreatment in Germany.
So as to better exploit synergies, NABU acquired Chemophos in 2002 and switched production to Germany. Laboratory and application technology remained in Traun, thus continuing to ensure quick and direct customer support.
Under the name of Chemophos-Oberflächentechnik GmbH, we now offer complete pretreatment systems, as well as assistive chemicals for brazing and mould release products for the plastic processing industry. It is of the utmost importance for us to ensure a consistently high product quality, and to provide our customers with sound and competent practical advice. Innovative products are our answer to the challenges of the future.
