In 1998 the chrome-free pretreatment of metals was still generally unknown. At that time NABU was one of the first companies to market this technology in Germany. Since there was at the beginning no experience about long-term effects at the beginning, there was a lot of mistrust in the new application. However it is now clear that NABU was right in believing in this technology.
Nabutan-pretreated profiles which for the last 10 years have been exposed to extreme weather conditions in Florida, USA by GSB (German quality association) are still not showing any significant indications of corrosion. The profile exposition under intensive sunlight and aggressive maritime air in Florida proves the technical reliability of the Nabutan system. The GSB-approved Nabutan STI/310 combines the long-lasting corrosion protection typical of conventional chromating and the specific advantages of a chrome-free pretreatment: it is only classified as an irritant, which has advantages regarding storage and handling; it is applied as a dried in place coating, with a significant reduction in the use of water for rinsing; disposal costs are considerably reduced.
As one of the pioneers in the field of chrome-free pretreatment NABU has acquired a large know-how over the years. Today even difficult processes can be managed on a chrome-free basis. With its extensive experience NABU can advise customers during all stages of the pretreatment process. From the implementation of a chrome-free line to the continuous optimisation of the application NABU technicians are always at the customers' side.
